If a disease were killing our children at the rate unintentional injuries are, the public would be outraged and demand that this killer be stopped.

Outdoor Safety

Playground Safety

When the weather is nice outside and you want to take the kids to the local playground, do you know what to look for to make sure your playground is safe? Sometimes the risks don’t appear as obvious as those associated with swimming or biking; but, they’re there and easy to spot. You just need to know what to look for.

Water Safety

Whether at home or on vacation, it is always important to keep safety in mind when children are in or near water. Drowning can happen at any time of year, but be especially cautious during the summer months when drowning incidents can increase up to 89% as compared to the rest of the year.

Life Jacket Programs

Safe Kids Springfield currently works with the Army Corps of Engineers at Stockton Lake and the Brian & Nathan Keese Water Safety Foundation to promote life jacket usage through the creation of 2 life jacket loaner boards at Stockton Lake. These boards allow families to borrow life jackets while on the water and return them after use.
